Andrei Tarnea, spokesman for the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighted Moscow's concerns about democratic mechanisms in Romania, noting that the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) is constantly monitoring Romanian elections. In a recent article, the SVR accused the European Union of 'ideological censorship', citing Romania's presidential elections as an example of intimidation of dissidents. Although no specific candidates are named, the article highlights negative trends in the EU.
