Romania will acquire 1,200 new ambulances through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), intended for SMURD crews and County Ambulance Services. The Ministry of Internal Affairs signed the financing contract on December 24, 2025, with a total value of over 1.1 billion lei.

The project, which will be completed by August 2026, has been expanded from 591 to 1,200 ambulances, including 1,000 type B and 200 type C. So far, 378 type B ambulances and 96 type C have been delivered, contributing to the modernization of the emergency system in Romania. This investment will improve the efficiency of medical interventions and provide modern equipment for medical personnel.
