Romania will benefit from 150 million euros for the development of electricity storage capacities in batteries, after the European Commission approved the support scheme proposed by the authorities. This initiative aligns with the objectives of the Pact for a Clean Industry, aiming to accelerate the energy transition towards a climate-neutral economy.
The scheme, evaluated under the State Aid Framework, will support the installation of storage systems with a total capacity of at least 2,174 MWh, facilitating the integration of renewable sources, such as solar and wind energy, into the national energy mix. The funding will be provided in the form of direct grants, and beneficiaries will be selected through a competitive procedure. The European Commission has confirmed that the scheme meets the CISAF conditions and must be implemented by December 31, 2030.
