Bogdan Ivan, the Minister of Energy, stated that Romania is prepared for the cold season, having its natural gas storage completely filled. He thanked the market operators for the purchases made in the summer, thus ensuring a problem-free winter. The electricity production is stable, averaging 7,800 megawatts, with 24% of it coming from hydrocarbons. Ivan emphasized the importance of maintaining coal-fired power plants, which significantly contribute to energy production.
In the context of unfavorable weather forecasts, he mentioned that coal production is essential, with ELCEN Craiova providing sufficient thermal energy. Issues in the heating system in Bucharest were discussed, and ELCEN confirmed that the plants operate under safe conditions. The company emphasized that any request for an increase in the thermal agent flow must be accompanied by a reduction in network losses to avoid failures. ELCEN, the largest producer of thermal energy in Romania, continues to provide heat for approximately 550,000 apartments in the Capital.
