Luciana Antoci, state advisor in Prime Minister Bolojan's team, declared on Facebook that Romania has received the green light for joining the OECD, a statement that was quickly contested by government officials. They emphasized that the accession process is ongoing and that Romania has only met 19 out of the 25 necessary objectives.

Luca Niculescu, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed that Romania has obtained the formal approval of the OECD Committee for Environmental Policies, but mentioned that there are still environmental standards that have not been met. The Government's spokesperson, Ioana Dogioiu, reaffirmed that joining in 2026 is an ambitious but achievable goal. Luciana Antoci later deleted the post from Facebook, and HotNews attempted to obtain a response from her without success. Romania has aspired to join the OECD since 2004, and the benefits include assistance in public policies and global recognition of its status as a market economy.
