At the World Expo in Osaka, Romania celebrated National Day with various events, but the presence of personalities such as Victor Ponta and Viorel Hrebenciuc has sparked controversy. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that they did not attend the official events organized by the Romanian Pavilion, but a private event of the Chamber of Commerce. Mircea Abrudean was Romania's official representative, emphasizing that his trip was supported by the Japanese authorities. The exhibition attracted over 300,000 visitors in the first three months.
