The Romanian government has announced possible new gas discoveries in the Black Sea, within the Neptun Deep perimeter, and will extend the exploration period by 2 years. This measure, aimed at optimizing drilling operations, will not affect the start of production, scheduled for 2027.

The official document, which will become a Government Decision, emphasizes the importance of extending the exploration period to ensure the safety and efficiency of operations. OMV Petrom and Romgaz, the holders of the concession agreement, have requested this extension to complete the necessary work under optimal conditions. Romania could become the largest natural gas producer in the EU, with estimates of 100 billion cubic meters of gas, generating revenues of approximately 20 billion euros. The total investment in the project amounts to 4 billion euros.
