The Ministry of National Defense (MApN) organized, in Bucharest, a new round of the Romania-U.S. High-Level Defense Group (HLDG) meeting, where the solidity of the Strategic Partnership was reconfirmed. This was the first visit of the new Assistant Secretary of War, Daniel Zimmerman, to an allied state.
The Minister of Defense, Liviu-Ionuț Moșteanu, emphasized Romania's commitment to increase the Defense budget to 5% of GDP by 2035, to continue equipping programs, and to play a leading role in the Black Sea region. The discussions addressed global strategic developments, the posture of American forces in Romania, and Romania's contribution to NATO security. Additionally, the American delegation visited the 86th Air Base Borcea and the Aegis Ashore Facility in Deveselu, analyzing the progress and prospects of bilateral cooperation.
