The Minister of Defense, Liviu-Ionuț Moșteanu, had a meeting with Radmila Shekerinska, the Deputy Secretary General of NATO, during the NATO Industry Forum in Bucharest. The discussions focused on strengthening the deterrence and defense posture on the Eastern Flank of the Alliance, as well as on the security situation near Romania's borders.

The two officials emphasized the importance of allied support for Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, highlighting the "Eastern Sentinel" initiative aimed at developing a coherent air defense architecture. They also discussed commitments to increase defense budgets to 5% of GDP by 2035, deemed essential for strengthening defense capabilities. Moșteanu reaffirmed Romania's commitment to invest in its own capabilities and to support partners in the eastern neighborhood, emphasizing the crucial role of the defense industry in ensuring security against emerging threats.
