A 41-year-old Romanian man from Ponte San Pietro, Italy, threatened to set fire in his home after being informed about an eviction order. The incident took place in the presence of carabinieri, who intervened to defuse the situation. The man doused himself with gasoline and threatened to start a fire, endangering not only his life but also that of those around him, considering that his home was above an industrial bakery.
Negotiations lasted about four hours, during which the carabinieri managed to establish a dialogue with the man and reduce the risks. In parallel, the area was secured, and ignition sources were removed. In the end, the Romanian agreed to abandon his act, changed out of his gasoline-soaked clothes, and was taken to the police station. Firefighters intervened to neutralize the fire hazard, and the man was transported to the hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
