The incident took place in the presence of carabinieri, who intervened to defuse the situation. The man doused himself with gasoline and threatened to start a fire, endangering not only his life but also that of those around him, considering that his home was above an industrial bakery.

Negotiations lasted about four hours, during which the carabinieri managed to establish a dialogue with the man and reduce the risks. In the end, the Romanian agreed to abandon his act, changed out of his gasoline-soaked clothes, and was taken to the police station.
