Alexandru Rogobete, former Minister of Health, commented on Tuesday about the case of the baby who died at the Polizu Maternity Hospital, stating that he was informed about the situation during his term. He mentioned that he sent the Control Body and the State Health Inspection to investigate the case, which was redirected to the College of Physicians in Romania due to medical implications. Rogobete emphasized that this is not an administrative issue, but a medical one, and the College of Physicians will decide following the investigation.
The Ministry of Health announced that the D.S.P. Bucharest conducted checks at the maternity hospital, finding that there are no sanitary non-conformities, but sanctioned the attending physician for not performing the screening upon admission. Additionally, the College of Physicians was notified for possible malpractice issues. The maternity hospital has initiated an internal investigation and is cooperating with the authorities.
