The health inspectors from the Bucharest Public Health Directorate have reported the Medical College for a "possible case of malpractice" at Polizu Maternity, following the death of a premature newborn.
The parents of the baby accused the hospital of negligence, and prosecutors have opened a case for suspicious death.
The DSP checks included the analysis of clinical observation sheets and documents related to cleaning and disinfection.
Although no major non-compliances were found, it was discovered that screening was not performed upon admission, which led to a fine of 2,000 lei imposed on the attending physician.
"Following the checks, the health inspectors did NOT find non-compliances regarding sanitary-hygienic conditions, the use of biocidal products, the self-control plan, compliance with the screening protocol for the checked patient, the preparation of the IAAM sheet, and its declaration," the Ministry of Health's statement shows.
The Ministry has reported the Medical College to investigate the malpractice aspects. The investigation continues, and the parents claim that the baby contracted a nosocomial infection in the hospital.
