Robert Negoiță, the mayor of Sector 3, said on Friday in a message on Facebook that he will contest the decision of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA), which placed him under judicial control and prohibited him from exercising his duties as mayor.
Negoiță stated that he will resolve the prosecutors' decision in court, mentioning that, due to the prohibition, he cannot directly manage the citizens' issues, although he can receive complaints.
"Regrettably, I will no longer be able to take over messages or complaints, I will no longer be able to get directly involved in solving these problems due to the fact that I have a prohibition. In reality, a prosecutor ordered the suspension of my mandate and the prohibition of exercising the function I legally hold following the vote from a year and something ago. We will sort these things out, I hope next week, in court. And I sincerely hope that things will return to normal," said Negoiță in the video posted on his Facebook page.
The mayor is being investigated in a corruption case related to the construction of a road with public funds on the private property of his brother, who has a real estate project in the area.
