In Bucharest, RFI and Deutsche Welle signed a memorandum of cooperation, strengthening the Franco-German partnership in the media landscape of Romania and the region. The signing was carried out by Marie-Christine Saragosse, President Director of France Médias Monde, and Barbara Massing, General Director of Deutsche Welle. During the discussions, Jean-Marc Four, the director of RFI, emphasized the mission to provide verified information and combat disinformation, acknowledging the challenges encountered in this endeavor. He mentioned that, despite the decline in trust in traditional media, the audience of RFI in Romania is on the rise.
The collaboration with Deutsche Welle aims to create a journalistic coalition to address current challenges. Four also discussed the role of Europe in the context of the United States' withdrawal from the information sphere, highlighting the need for adequate funding for media projects. Marie-Christine Saragosse highlighted the historical ties between France and Romania, which have contributed to the development of media collaboration. This initiative aims to promote democratic values and expand the information network in the region.
