Resident doctors at the Constanța County Emergency Hospital have reported that they are being forced to sign volunteer requests for shifts, being threatened that they will not pass the specialty exam.

The hospital management denied the allegations, stating that volunteering is a personal option and does not replace regular paid work. The resident doctors claim that the volunteer request is a pretext to force them to work extra hours without pay. The hospital management explained that these volunteer stages are meant to provide young doctors with increased clinical exposure. However, the residents contest the legality and transparency of these requests, stating that they were not properly informed about the conditions of the volunteer contract.

Some doctors believe that this situation severely affects working conditions and patient safety.
