Resident doctors are reporting incorrect marking schemes and unclear requirements in the examination for obtaining the title of specialist physician, held nationwide between October 7 and November 3, 2026. More than 3,900 candidates registered for the session, which was organized for the first time with standardized written questions for each specialty.
The Multidisciplinary Society of Resident Doctors has asked the Ministry of Health to revise the marking schemes and regrade papers in specialties where the pass rate for the written test is no higher than 30%. Organization representatives say that some committees awarded points for concepts that were not explicitly requested in the questions, including definitions or clinical manifestations associated with genetic mutations.
The doctors are also calling for all requirements to be clearly worded for future examinations. If the marking schemes cannot be revised, the organization is requesting an extraordinary session by the end of 2026, citing the precedent set in 2025, when the emergency medicine test was retaken. Candidates who fail must wait six months to take the examination again and cannot practice without the right to independent practice.
