Resident doctors reported problems with the examination for obtaining the title of specialist doctor, held nationwide between October 7 and November 3, 2026. The complaints concerned grading schemes considered incorrect and unclear requirements, particularly in cardiology, while the College of Physicians called for the assessment to be fair and to reflect the competencies necessary for medical practice.
The Multidisciplinary Society of Resident Doctors requested that the grading schemes be redone and the papers regraded in the specialties where the pass rate for the written test was no more than 30%. The organization also requested clarification of the requirements for future examinations and, if these measures were not possible, called for an extraordinary session to be organized in 2026.
In this context, the interim Minister of Health announced that she would analyze the complaints received and that, if flaws in the grading scheme were confirmed, remedial solutions would be proposed. At the same time, the College of Physicians called for the conclusions to be communicated transparently and for legal measures to be adopted following the checks.
