The general mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, announced on Friday morning that a legal solution has been found to authorize the repair works at Basarab Passage, after a meeting with representatives of the association that carried out the work, the companies FCC and Webuild, and the intervention is expected to start in April.
Ciucu said that by the end of this year the works would be completed and he has already issued the preliminary urbanism certificate for the issuance of the construction permit.
“In the absence of acceptance, neither the contractor nor the Capital City Hall ensured maintenance for 15 years and for this reason it has degraded even more. I met with representatives of the association that carried out the work, the companies FCC and Webuild, and we discussed concrete steps to start the works in April. To avoid other lengthy processes with unclear outcomes, the dialogue between PMB and the two companies was constructive and ended with the conclusion of an extrajudicial transaction, through which we divided the works, who does what,” Ciucu said on Facebook.
He explained that, due to the lack of acceptance, the construction has not benefited from maintenance for 15 years, which led to its degradation.
According to the mayor, the costs will be determined later.
Initially, the City Hall announced that the works would start in June, but Ciucu accelerated the process by concluding an extrajudicial transaction with the builders. Former mayor Nicușor Dan emphasized that the acceptance should have been carried out immediately after the completion of the work, to avoid the current problems.
