The Romanian Auto Registry has clarified that winter tires must be marked with the letters M and S, in various forms, to comply with legislation. Additionally, the term 'all-season' is a commercial designation and does not refer to legal winter tires. Winter tires are mandatory on roads covered with snow or ice, and failure to comply with this rule may result in fines. RAR recommends checking the tires before use, including the year of manufacture and tread depth.
