Context: After the explosion in Rahova, the authorities assessed the building, evacuated the residents, and began safety works
Following the explosion on October 17, 2025, which caused four deaths and dozens of injuries, the residents were evacuated. The Bucharest Municipality initially provided accommodation in hotels and then paid rent for the relocated families.
Subsequently, between August 19 and September 9, 2026, the Local Police began a preventive assessment of the buildings in the affected area, inspecting the apartments in five stairwells and documenting the cracks, with residents being granted access. After the technical analyses were completed and the order was issued, safety works began: the installation of temporary supports (“props”), followed by the demolition of the upper floors that could no longer be reinforced in the original design, with their reconstruction from scratch. In parallel, the Bucharest Municipality resumed financial support for the families by extending the aid.
