Tens of residents of the town of Salcea, Suceava County, protested on Monday in front of the town hall, dissatisfied with the increase in local taxes and fees. Mayor Ezekiel Belțic acknowledged the citizens' grievances and promised to organize a meeting to discuss the raised issues. People learned that taxes will be significantly higher in 2026, with the waste collection fee increasing to 300 lei per year per person, which represents a burden for large families. During the discussions, the mayor was heckled by protesters, some demanding his resignation. Belțic stated that he would review the complaints and provide support to affected citizens, but did not specify what measures would be implemented.
