Prosecutors Gigi Valentin Ștefan and Teodor Niță from the Constanța Court of Appeal will find out on Wednesday, June 10, whether they remain in custody, while the High Court of Cassation and Justice is judging today the appeals filed by the two magistrates against the extension of the preventive arrest measure, decided on June 5.

The two are being investigated for influence peddling and incitement to abuse of office.

Gigi Valentin Ștefan is accused of having received 60,000 euros to influence a prosecutor in favorably resolving a criminal case, as well as other sums to intervene in various cases.

Teodor Niță, on the other hand, is accused of attempting to influence an ISUJ Constanța officer to avoid legal sanctions against a commercial company.
