Corneliu Gașpar, a professor at the University of Life Sciences in Iași, has been placed in preventive detention for 30 days, being accused of rape. A criminal complaint was filed by students and the university administration, and the Ethics Committee decided to terminate his employment contract.

The court accepted the preventive detention proposal made by the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Iași Court, based on the evidence presented. Although only one official complaint was filed, there were numerous similar accusations in the online environment. The incidents allegedly took place in the professor's office, and if found guilty, Gașpar risks a sentence between 7 and 12 years in prison, considering the aggravating circumstances related to abuse of authority. The court's decision is not final and can be contested.
