The Romanian Pork Producers Association (APCPR) warns that authorized farms are facing a critical situation: the average price of pork is 4.95 lei/kg, while the real cost exceeds 6.5 lei/kg, resulting in significant losses.
Without support measures, many farms could close, leading to job losses and greater dependence on imports. The crisis is exacerbated by massive imports, the lack of a national reference price, high biosecurity costs, and outbreaks of African swine fever, which limit exports.
APCPR has launched a campaign to promote Romanian meat and is requesting support from retailers and processors, highlighting the direct impact on consumers and the livestock sector.
