PRIMER requests the Government to include pharmaceutical manufacturers on the list of strategic consumers to ensure the continuity of electricity supply.

The Romanian Association of Pharmaceutical Producers (PRIMER), the organization that brings together the most important 18 pharmaceutical factories in Romania, has stated that the interruption of electricity supply will affect patients' access to essential medicines.

In a statement sent to AGERPRES, PRIMER requests the Government to include the pharmaceutical industry in the category of critical sectors, alongside hospitals, to benefit from the continuity of energy supply.

"Pharmaceutical factories are not ordinary industrial units. They ensure the continuous production of essential medicines used daily by millions of Romanian patients and hospitals across the country," emphasized the Association.

Power outages can compromise manufacturing processes, leading to significant product losses and delays in deliveries, according to the statement.

Dragoș Damian, executive director of PRIMER, highlighted the importance of energy security for public health, considering the already existing disruptions in the supply of medicines.
