Cigarettes will suffer a new price increase starting today, April 1, according to the order signed by the Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare.
This measure is part of the fiscal calendar assumed by Romania, but the effects are immediately felt by consumers, who are already facing a high cost of living. The increase in cigarette prices is a continuation of the trend of rising prices in the tobacco sector, raising concerns about the impact on family budgets.
In the current economic context, this increase in excise duties will directly affect consumers, who will be forced to cope with additional expenses.
Authorities emphasize that these measures are part of the public health strategy and the reduction of tobacco consumption, but it remains to be seen how this will influence consumer behavior in the long term.
