The Local Committee for Emergency Situations (CLSU) Praid decided on Friday to extend the state of alert in the territory of the commune for another 30 days, starting from August 8 and until September 6, as a result of the emergency situation caused by the floods that affected the local salt mine last year.
The measures adopted are similar to those in previous months, including the mobilization of necessary resources to maintain the safety of the mining perimeter. Access for the population in the affected area and in the Salt Canyon remains prohibited, and assistance will be provided to households downstream if necessary. CLSU will inform residents about the evolution of the situation through all available channels.
The monitoring of the phenomenon is carried out by the Mureș Water Basin Administration, SALROM, CLSU Praid, and the ''Oltul'' Harghita Emergency Situations Inspectorate, with attention to the flow rates of the Corund River and the Târnava Mică River. The state of alert was established for the first time in May 2025, after water infiltrations affected the salt mine.
