The issue of social networks, especially TikTok and Facebook, has generated controversy among Romanian politicians, who fail to reach a consensus on protecting children from the harmful effects of these platforms. The Minister of Justice, Radu Marinescu, emphasized the need for a rigorous evaluation of content accessible to minors, proposing to change the age of criminal responsibility to limit access to violent materials.

He highlighted serious cases in which minors are involved in crimes or become victims. Additionally, a report from the European Commission accused TikTok of not doing enough to protect user health, especially that of children. TikTok rejected these accusations, deeming them unfounded and promising to contest the Commission's findings.
