Iulian Alexandru Georgescu, sub-commissioner within the Olt County Police Inspectorate, was detained by DNA prosecutors for influence peddling. He allegedly requested the administrator of a company the sum of 6,000 euros, claiming that he would intervene with a colleague and a magistrate to obtain a favorable solution in a criminal case.
In June 2025, Georgescu received 3,000 euros, and the rest of the amount was handed over on Wednesday when he was caught in the act. DNA announced that, alongside Georgescu, other suspects were also prosecuted for complicity. Georgescu initially demanded an unspecified amount, then increased it to 6,000 euros, leading others to believe that he had influence over other officers and magistrates. He will be presented to the Dolj Tribunal with a proposal for preventive detention for 30 days.
