A police officer from Cernavodă has been detained for 24 hours after assaulting a person who was under investigation, causing injuries that require 18 days of medical care.

A police officer from the Siliștea Police Station has been detained for abusive conduct after assaulting a person, A.G., at the Cernavodă Police headquarters. The incident occurred on December 7, 2025, when the victim was brought in for questioning regarding a family conflict. Although off-duty, the officer acted unjustifiably, hitting the victim with his hands, fists, and a metal baton, causing serious injuries, including two broken ribs and a pneumothorax.

The victim requires approximately 18 days of medical care. Prosecutors have proposed the preventive arrest of the officer for 30 days, and the proposal has been sent to the judge of rights and freedoms at the Constanța Court.
