A local police officer from Arad has been sent to trial for abusive conduct, nearly two and a half years after the incident on July 14, 2023, when he struck a homeless man, who later died from his injuries. He was picked up from the street after harassing passersby, and during transport to the Local Police headquarters, he was subjected to violence by the police officers.

Another officer is on trial for torture followed by the victim's death. The autopsy showed that the death was violent, caused by cranio-cerebral trauma and other injuries, and prosecutors established a link between the violence inflicted and the man's death. The trial for torture has been postponed, and the first hearing is scheduled for November 13, 2024.
