After the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) placed Mihai Barbu under judicial control, PNL decided to suspend him from all positions held in the party, including that of treasurer. However, there was no mention made about his position as president of the Railway Reform Authority (ARF), which he obtained in April 2023. The government, led by Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, did not provide a clear response regarding Barbu's dismissal from ARF, and he refused to comment on the situation, citing an ongoing investigation. Sorin Grindeanu, the former Minister of Transport who proposed Barbu, stated that he asked the current minister to request his dismissal. Grindeanu emphasized that the revocation should have already taken place, considering the serious allegations in the case in which Barbu is involved. He is accused of facilitating a meeting between an arrested businessman and local authorities to influence the leadership of DSVSA Vaslui. PNL has not officially communicated about Barbu's situation at ARF.
