The Municipality of Bucharest (PMB) has declared that, until the completion of the efficiency plan for the activity of the Bucharest Transport Company (STB), there will be no discussion about increasing fares or eliminating free services.

PMB emphasized that free services for pensioners will be maintained, warning that contrary information is false. Mayor Ciprian Ciucu has requested STB and the Intercommunity Development Association for Public Transport in Bucharest to present a plan to reduce expenses, considering the recent rejection by the General Council of the fare increase.

Currently, free services are available to pensioners, students, people with disabilities, and other special categories. Ciucu highlighted the importance of a viable plan to avoid STB insolvency and to improve public transport conditions for Bucharest residents.
