In a press conference, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced proposals for fiscal measures, including increasing the teaching norm by 2 hours for teachers and raising VAT on books from 5% to 11%. These measures are part of a package aimed at reducing the budget deficit, which has reached 9.4%. Bolojan emphasized the need to fight tax evasion and streamline public spending, noting that public sector pensions and salaries will remain capped. He also highlighted the problem of merit scholarships, which do not always reflect the real performance of students.
