The Minister of Investments and European Projects, Dragoș Pîslaru, stated that Romania needs to pay its leaders well to attract competent professionals.
In a Facebook post, he clarified his net income of 12,776 lei, emphasizing that there are no bonuses or additional financial benefits. Pîslaru mentioned that the salaries of dignitaries are insufficient compared to the private sector and the salaries in other EU member states.
He highlighted that political appointments should meet a minimum professional standard to avoid hiring unqualified individuals. He also emphasized the importance of cultivating a professional elite in Romania to improve the country's representation internationally.
Pîslaru concluded by stressing that politics should be a vocation dedicated to serving citizens and called for a moderate evaluation of politicians, acknowledging the existence of those who serve their communities with honesty.
