Philip Morris Romania aligns its mission with the global objective of creating a smoke-free future by investing in research and the development of systems that heat tobacco instead of burning it. Mihai Bundoi, Head of Scientific and Medical Affairs, explained that over the last two decades, the company has gradually phased out the production of traditional cigarettes, focusing on less harmful alternatives for smokers. Over 40% of global sales come from these products, demonstrating the company's commitment. Bundoi emphasized that although traditional smoking is harmful, many people continue to smoke, and smoke-free alternatives can reduce the negative impact on health. The company faces myths about the harmfulness of these products but asserts that scientific research validates their safety. Philip Morris Romania aims to correctly inform consumers, having a modern factory in Otopeni that produces reserves for heated tobacco, thus contributing to the shift in production towards smoke-free alternatives.
