On Thursday, several gas stations in the OMV Petrom network ran out of fuel after prices dropped significantly in recent days, reaching levels similar to those at the beginning of the Iran war. Gasoline reached approximately 8 lei per liter, while diesel was at 8.6 lei, which led to increased demand from drivers. Company representatives stated that these situations are isolated and short-lived, and the stations will be quickly restocked. The price drops are related to the capping of commercial margins imposed by the Government, which limited the markup to the average of the previous year. This measure was implemented to prevent speculation and unjustified price increases. A similar situation occurred at Rompetrol, where gas stations ran out of premium diesel after a significant price drop. The government declared a crisis situation in the fuel market, applying measures to control prices and discourage inappropriate behavior from economic operators.
