The General Council of Bucharest Municipality (CGMB) has approved an ambitious infrastructure project, the Petricani Passage, aimed at easing traffic in the northern part of the Capital. The project will be carried out through a collaboration between the Bucharest Municipality, Sector 2 Municipality, Ilfov County Council, and the city of Voluntari.

Sector 2 Municipality will coordinate the procurement procedures for the feasibility study, design, and execution, will partially finance the works, and will handle the necessary expropriations.

The passage, with a length of almost 1 km, will cross the intersections between Petricani Road and Glucose Factory Road, as well as Dimitrie Pompeiu Boulevard, passing under the railway. The project also includes an intermodal transport hub, which will connect the future extension of Metro Line M2 with the Bucharest-Ilfov metropolitan train station, thus becoming a key point for public transport in the area. This initiative represents an important step in modernizing urban infrastructure and improving mobility in the Bucharest-Ilfov region.
