An online petition, launched by Declic and doctor Mihail Pautov, calls for a change in the law to ban smoking with any type of devices, including electronic cigarettes, in all enclosed public spaces. The petition, titled 'Stop smoking electronic cigarettes indoors', has gathered nearly 40,000 signatures and asks the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, to intervene in this regard. Although traditional cigarettes are banned in Romania, electronic devices are legal, as smoking is defined only as the burning of tobacco. The initiators emphasize that the use of these devices in public spaces poses a risk to public health, especially for children and pregnant women, due to the toxins that remain suspended in the air. They warn that fine particles and harmful substances in the air can cause inflammation and cellular damage, affecting the health of those nearby.
