The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) announced that, in the first ten days of the year, 793 fires were recorded, of which over 500 occurred in homes. The most common causes of these fires are defective or improvised heating means, unmaintained chimneys, and inadequate electrical installations. IGSU emphasizes that these situations are frequent in the cold season and can be prevented through simple checks, such as cleaning stoves and chimneys, as well as ensuring a safe electrical installation. Firefighters warn that each fire generates material damage and risks to human life, so prevention remains the most effective solution.
