In the first six months of 2024, the Romanian Police intervened in 61,431 cases of domestic violence, with an almost equal distribution between urban and rural areas. Although the total number of offenses decreased by 19% compared to the previous year, "hitting or other violence" remains the most frequent, accounting for 56% of the total. The electronic bracelet measure was applied in 1,248 cases, but 4,042 victims refused it. The electronic monitoring system will be expanded to 18 counties starting October 1, 2024.
