IPJ Galați: Over 500 tons of waste confiscated, fines of 100,000 lei imposed

During the period of June 23-25, the police officers of the Regional Transport Police of Galați, together with the commissioners of the National Environmental Guard, conducted inspections at a port operator and three other commercial companies in the field of collecting recyclable waste.

As a result of the checks, four contraventional sanctions were applied, totaling 100,000 lei for non-compliance with environmental legislation. Additionally, over 500 tons of waste, including scrap metal and plastic materials, were confiscated, and the activity of one of the inspected companies was suspended.

The inspections revealed that the waste was stored without an environmental permit, and some had been relocated, complicating the determination of its origin. Investigations continue for fraudulent management and tax evasion.
