318 Romanian citizens, including pilgrims and tourists, returned to the country on the night from Monday to Tuesday through Otopeni Airport, with the help of two special flights operated by TAROM.
They were repatriated from the Middle East, first arriving in Egypt through the Taba border crossing, where they were assisted by the Romanian consular team. Air traffic to Egypt is not affected by the military conflict in the region, although flights have experienced delays.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Zoițoiu, emphasized that there are no injured Romanians in the attacks in Iran, but a significant number are stranded in various Middle Eastern countries due to the closure of airspace. She encouraged Romanians in the region to register with diplomatic missions and announced a WhatsApp channel to provide useful information.
