The National Union of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies of Romania (UNSAR) announced that over 170 homes in the area affected by the explosion in the Rahova neighborhood are protected by optional insurance. The explosion left hundreds of people without homes, and UNSAR has begun to provide compensation to affected property owners. UNSAR representatives are collaborating with authorities to manage the situation and recommend that property owners contact their insurers to report damages.
Additionally, only 30% of homes in the Bucharest-Ilfov Region are covered by optional insurance, and at the national level, the percentage is only 17%. Optional insurance provides extensive protection, covering risks such as fires, explosions, and floods. Founded in 1994, UNSAR represents 21 insurance companies in Romania, with the objective of promoting and defending their interests.
