Deputy Augustin Hagiu, a member of the Transport Commission, stated that the Otopeni International Airport is the only airport in the world that does not have a rapid boarding-deboarding area under safe conditions. This situation affects the image of the airport and Romania among foreign tourists. Although Otopeni is the largest airport in the country and serves as a regional airport, managing passenger flow is complicated due to the lack of a dedicated area for rapid boarding.
Hagiu mentioned that there have been proposals for the creation of such areas, but they have not been implemented, and the construction work on the subway station further aggravates the situation. Tourists arriving in Romania are greeted in a dismal manner, without shuttles to transport them to hotels, which leads to a negative experience.
