On Wednesday, hydrologists issued an orange flood warning for the counties of Dolj and Mehedinți, while a yellow warning was established for Gorj, Vâlcea, Argeș, Teleorman, Olt, Dâmbovița, Prahova, and Ilfov. The warnings are valid until Thursday evening, when local flooding and increases in water levels are expected in the hydrographic basins of Desnățui, Jiu, Olt, Vedea, Argeș, and Ialomița.
These phenomena are caused by the forecasted precipitation, the melting of snow, and the propagation of water. INHGA emphasized that, between 07.01.2026 and 08.01.2026, significant runoff will occur on slopes and rapid flows in small rivers, with risks of flooding. Additionally, it is expected that dangerous phenomena will also affect the lower-grade tributaries of the mentioned rivers, as well as unregistered watercourses.
