OMV Petrom has announced the completion of an investment of 45 million euros for the modernization of the Petrobrazi refinery, part of the company's strategy to reduce environmental impact. The project includes a new unit for treating sour gases, which will allow for the processing of a wider variety of crude types and will contribute to reducing emissions. This is the second unit of this type in the refinery and will provide additional capacity for gas treatment, and the sulfur obtained can be used in various industries, including fertilizers and pharmaceuticals.

The construction involved over 350,000 hours of work and was carried out under safety conditions. OMV Petrom has invested, in total, over 2 billion euros in the modernization of the Petrobrazi refinery since privatization, considering operational efficiency and environmental protection. The company is now working on a new major project of 750 million euros for a sustainable fuel production unit, expected to be operational in 2028. OMV Petrom is the largest integrated energy producer in Southeast Europe, with a refining capacity of 4.5 million tons annually.
