OMV Petrom has finalized the transfer of an interest to NewMed Energy Balkan for the exploration of the offshore Han Asparuh field in Bulgaria.

The transaction was approved by the Bulgarian Council of Ministers and the two partners now have equal stakes in the project. The collaboration allows both parties to share the risks and costs associated with the project. The partners plan to start drilling an exploration well in 2025. The Han Asparuh perimeter is located in the western Black Sea in Bulgaria, covering an area of 13,712 km².
