The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Țoiu, made statements on Friday morning regarding the drone that crashed into a residential building in Galați. She stated that the MFA is certain at this moment that it is a Russian drone that exploded in Galați. Additionally, the summoning of the Russian ambassador remains valid, as he has been called to the MFA headquarters after Russia requested Romania to "treat with utmost seriousness the recommendation to evacuate diplomatic personnel from the Ukrainian capital."
"At this moment, we have informed both our allies and the NATO Secretary General, together with the Ministry of Defense and European partners. During the day, there will also be a press briefing from the National Ministry of Defense with additional elements regarding the respective drone. We are certain, at this moment, that we are talking about a drone from the Russian Federation," Oana Țoiu stated in an intervention for Antena 3.
When asked whether the MFA considers invoking Article 4 of the NATO treaty following this incident, the interim minister responded: "It is an incident of major gravity. The President will return with an announcement during the day today."
