Oana Gheorghiu, interim prime minister, stated that Romania has a state company, Grup Exploatare și Întreținere Palat C.F.R. S.A., which manages the C.F.R. Palace building in Bucharest, having 36 employees and 4 members of the board of directors.

The company is exclusively engaged in renting spaces to other public institutions, generating significant annual revenues. Gheorghiu emphasized that money circulates between public institutions, raising questions about the efficiency of this structure. She also mentioned the serious governance issues identified by the Court of Accounts, including the lack of reevaluation of the building since 2013 and non-compliance with legal regulations regarding the independence of the board of directors. The company has been involved in 177 criminal cases in the last decade, including one against the Ministry of Transport. Gheorghiu highlighted that, despite these issues, the company does not record losses, having a modest profitability rate.
